Growth is a big part of streaming and there are many well known pathways to achieving it. This article looks at 3 options that go beyond the fundamentals such as consistency and regular social media posts.

There is no doubt the fundamentals matter, however there are a few more things you can do along side them right now, even if you’re still working on the basics. The methods in this article aren’t overly advanced, however they are certainly powerful and should be included in your growth strategy.

1. Community Focus

A focus on community building can have powerful impacts on your streams growth. Whether you have been streaming for a long time or you’re just starting out, it’s well worth putting effort into community building.

A great place to start is with a Discord server and a sub-reddit. Both services are free to use and make it quite easy to establish a community. All you need is a catchy name born from chat and you are on your way!

Once you have a home for your community, encourage your community to share clips, memes and anything else that may be related to your streams. You might be amazed at just how much your reach increases by doing so.

2. Competitions and Giveaways

People love competitions and giveaways and the best thing is, they don’t have to have elaborate prises to be effective. Gift cards and game codes make for awesome prises and they don’t have to be internationally shipped, saving you money and a potential headache.

There are multiple ways to run competitions and giveaways. Some streamers prefer to make them only available to subscribers while others will leave them open to everyone. I personally believe a mix of both options works really well and is the best way to go.

There are plenty of 3rd party services for running competitions available or with a bit of creativity you can come up with your own method. All that’s really important is that the service is easy to use and offers what you need. A quick google search will reveal your options for 3rd party options.

3. Stream Discovery Services

There may not be a huge amount of stream discovery services out there, however finding them and making use of them can be a game changer!

We offer a basic stream discovery service in the form of a Stream Guestbook. Simply sign the Guestbook via the KICK chat with the !guestbook command. Your message, and your KICK account will be publicly visible in the Guestbook which is not only shared all the time in stream chat, but is also accessible directly from the front page of tygatti.com.

I’ve always envisioned a webpage that operates as a “Network Page” and displays streams from across the Ghost Crew Nation. Now we now have it, introducing the Network page! The page is still bare bones but it’s a step in the right direction.

We have attempted a similar concept in the past, however the Discord server was the centre piece and not a simple webpage. It was too complicated to welcome new people to the network and became a nightmare to administer. This new system allows us to bring more people into the network, and that’s a win for us all.

Planned Features

I have a few features planned for the Network page.

A Live status indicator
A Quick and easy “Watch Live” button
A Streamer information page
Streamers position on the page determined by outbound clicks

As the page evolves I’m sure more features will emerge, however if you have any ideas you would like to see included feel free to get in touch or leave a comment below.

How To Have Your Stream Included

If you would like to have your stream included on the network streams page you need to be a member in the discord and be active within the community. Streams must meet our quality and community standards to be included. Submit a #support-ticket in the Discord server if you’re interested.

[DEV]Introducing The KICK Chat Guestbook!

Back in the glory days of the internet, Guestbooks were a big deal. Every 90’s and early 00’s website that was worth something, made use of one, and they were fun!

I’ve wanted to bring to the concept over to our KICK chat for a while now but just haven’t had the time to put it together, until now!

Entries are added to the Guestbook with the command !guestbook in chat. It’s doesn’t cost any points and it’s a public command, no need to be a subscriber. Entries are limited to one per person,

The Guestbook is publicly viewable and usernames are automatically turned into their corresponding KICK URL making it not only a neat book to sign but also another method for discoverability.

USER POINTS TRACKING AND MORE!

We now have a fully fledged points tracking system that works in our KICK chat! I decided it would be better for us to make our own system, so that’s exactly what I’ve done.

We now have the !points command that displays your points and a !daily commands that not only rewards you with points everyday but also triggers a daily streak with the chance to earn streak bonuses.

The system is still to be thought of as in beta and certainly requires more testing, however its working and I’m constantly working on expanding it now. I have a lot of exciting things planned and having this system will really make things a lot more fun!

The Survival Points System!

We built a “Survival Points” system as a bit of a fun thing for chat on Tiktok. The system became fun and now it’s not something I want to do without. We haven’t had the since moving to KICK, however that is now fixed! The system has been ported over to the KICK chat and everything is working great, we even have some new features!

The system is made up of in chat commands and an overlay. The overlay isn’t required as all details can now be accessed from chat!

Commands:

!survialpoints – lists the total points for both slothie and myself
!addty – gives me 1 point
!addslothie – gives slothie one point
!takety – takes one point from me
!takeslothie – takes one point from slothie

As the whole channel/user points system comes into fruition (being worked on now) the survival points system will integrate with it and you will earn points for giving points.

Introducing The New GCN Creator Chat

There is a lot that goes into being a “creator” and often you’re alone in trying to figure it all out. I’ve put together a channel in the discord specifically for creators. The aim of the channel is to share ideas, insights, strategies and pretty much everything else creator related.

I’m Now Streaming On KICK!

After nearly 12 months of solely LIVE streaming TikTok, I’ve finally started streaming on KICK! You can find my new channel here: TyGatti

I’ve decided to start on KICK because, well it’s just time. In the 12 months I’ve been on TikTok, I’ve received 44 suspensions. Each suspension comes with its own troubles, you fall out of ranks, you fall of the for you page and TikTok stops sending LIVE notifications.

KICK Makes More Sense For Me…

TikTok has been a great training ground and we have used the platform to connect with what has now become our awesome community, The Ghost Crew Nation. However KICK just offers a better all round user experience without all the battles, ranks and other features like TikTok. We are able to be more about the content then ever before on KICK and I think that’s just rad.

I’ll Still Be On TikTok… For The Time Being

I’m not ditching TikTok just yet. TikTok has been our home for so long that it’s hard to just walk away from the platform entirely. I’ll be streaming less frequently on TikTok but I’ll still be around.

VLOG 50: A RELAXED DAY CLEANING

today was one of the more relaxing days I’ve had in a while. The sun has been patchy today and I haven’t been able to get up to full charge on the batteries but since I’m heading bush tomorrow, it’s no big deal.

I took the chance to get some cleaning and organising done today. I’ve removed the curtain that keeps falling down and the plan is to replace it with a fly mesh. I also cleaned up the back bench properly so there is nothing loose and floating around on it anymore.

VLOG 49: THE BATTERY BAG IS FINISHED

I woke up to a pretty wet day this morning and it stayed that way for most of the day. I haven’t been able to get much solar in so I made the decision to head to the super market and jaycar.

I was hoping to find a small shunt at jaycar to monitor starlink power on the battery bag but I couldn’t find one at the right price, I’ll have to resort to online. I mounted the inverter in the battery bag this afternoon and charged up the battery using the kickass 22amp 240v charger from sam. It all works a treat!

VLOG 48: BACK INTO TOWN

I packed up camp after the morning live stream with the intention of heading to the free camp near Landsborough for the night. When I got to the camp I discovered it was quiet busy as there was a lot of junk around so i bailed out to a regular spot near caloundra.

I made use of the afternoon by cleaning up the rest of the van. The inside is now pretty well organised, I just have one box left to sort out.
